Laila Inga belongs to the oldest, indigenous, ethnic group of Northern Europe. Her ancestors started their settlement on Norways 3th largest island several generations ago. As one who raises reindeer, the life of a Sami – and therefore the life of Laila, is a life deeply connected with nature, necessitating synchronization with the rhythm and lifecycles of their herds. In this episode of „Folk Tales“ listen as Laila describes how her elders remember viewing – and hearing - the polar lights in the days before airplanes, noise, and light pollution.
